A 40-year-old Malaysian man was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in 2007. He opted for for oral drug, Xeloda. He took a total of eight cycles and suffered various side effects. He was asked to undergo i/v chemotherapy, but refused. He came to seek our help on 3 April 2011. He said, “My sister had the same case – colon cancer. She did chemo and the cancer spread to her liver. After a few months, she died.”

Patient is a 35-year-old female. In February 2011, she found a lump in her right breast. She underwent a lumpectomy. It was an invasive ductal carcinoma. She was asked to undergo chemotherapy and radiotherapy. She refused and came to CA Care on 15 March 2011. She said, “My mother had already passed away. She was only 56 years old when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After surgery, she did chemotherapy in Singapore (cancer spread to her liver), then in Johore Baru and then in Kuala Lumpur. Then she came back to Johore Baru, waited for her time and died. Before that, she was strong and okay.

Gu is a 59-year-old male from Medan, Indonesia. In early March he was breathless and had coughs with blood in his sputum. A CT-scan of the thorax on 25 March 2010 indicated right pleural effusion, associated with collapse of right lower lobe of his lung. He underwent pleural tapping and felt better. He was scheduled for an endoscopy to further define his problem – suspicious of Stage 4 cancer. Everyone in the family was against chemotherapy. His cousin had lymphoma – underwent chemotherapy. After “successfully” completing the chemotherapy, he died.

KJ is a 15-year-old boy. About a year ago, he lost his appetite, felt dizzy and had double vision. Brain imaging showed a 3.8 X 3.7 cam mass in the pineal region and a 1.3 cam mass in the supra-sellar region. KJ’s problem was diagnosed as extensive pineal gland germinoma with hypopituitarism and diabetes insipidus.
